JESUS
The first letter of the word JESUS reminds us of the word Just, and declares the universal truth that God is Just, Holy, and loves us more then we can comprehend or understand.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
The second letter of the word JESUS reminds us of the word Everyone, and declares the universal truth that all of us have sinned.
There is no difference: for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:22-23
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
The third letter of the word JESUS reminds us of the word Saviour, and declares the universal truth that humanity needs a Saviour to save us from our sins.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
U - ULTIMATUM
The fourth letter of the word JESUS reminds us of the word Ultimatum, and declares the universal truth that each of us will be forced to make a choice. We must accept or reject Christ.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 1:12
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts. 16:31
If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
S – SERVICE
The final letter of the word JESUS reminds us of the word Service, which declares the universal truth that those who are born again are saved to serve Christ, through the context of the local church. If you have received God's Gift of Eternal Life, then you are to GROW in Christ by:
GROW
G – Going To Church!
Friend, if you are saved then you need a church home, where you can worship the Lord, be baptized, and observe the Lord’s Supper. One of the precious privileges our Lord has given unto believers is the blessing of assembling ourselves together at church. (Hebrews 10:25) When we attend church, there should be excitement in the air, because the body of Christ is present to meet with Jesus! (Matthew 18:20) There should be a contagious joy present in that we are about to hear from our LORD through His Word! (Philippians 4:4). There should be no division, conflict, jealousy, friction, strife, or schism between the members. ALL are to be of one mind, in complete unity, and experiencing intimacy in fellowship because Jesus Christ is the Head of the church (Colossians 1:18, Colossians 3:12-17). If you do not have a church home, then let the Lord lead you to a wonderful, Bible believing church! Let’s go to church!!!!
R - Reading your Bible and praying daily.
If you want to grow in the Lord, then attend church regularly and daily read your Bible and pray. When you read your Bible, God speaks to you, and when you pray, you are speaking to God. If you don’t know what book to start with, then start with the Gospel of John. I don’t have the words to tell you how critical this is in growing for Christ. READ YOUR BIBLE DAILY!!! For faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans10:17).
If you want to grow in the Lord, then attend church regularly, read your Bible daily, and be obedient to the Lord by doing those things that are pleasing to Jesus. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15). The first step of obedience, after being saved, is to follow the Lord in baptism. If you have never been baptized, then you need to meet with your pastor and follow the Lord in baptism. If you want to grow in the Lord, then serve the Lord with gladness and live the kind of life that is pleasing to Jesus.
W - Witness: Sharing Your Faith in Christ!
If you want to grow in the Lord, then attend church regularly, read your Bible daily, be obedient to the Lord by doing those things that pleasing to Jesus, and be a witness by sharing with others what Jesus has done for you!
For those who REJECT Christ and His gift of Salvation, the final letter of the word JESUS reminds us of the word Sin which declares the universal truth that all sin must be paid for in full.
Friend, God just doesn’t turn his head to one side, and pretend our sin does not exist. The Bible says that the wages of sin is death (Romans 3:23), and in order for sin to be forgiven and forgotten by God, our sin must be paid for in full. Dr. R.G. Lee’s most famous sermon was ‘Payday Someday,’ and if Dr. Lee could somehow speak to us in this hour, he would tell us that our sin must be paid for in full.
ROMANS 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
ROMANS 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
For you who have decided to make no decision for Christ or for those of you who have rejected Christ and His gift of eternal life, I leave you with the question that will haunt you for time and eternity:
Friend, your good works will not pay for your sin! (Ephesians 2:8-10)
All your education and modern thinking – will not pay for your sin!
The best environment and surroundings – will not pay for your sin!
Having all the power in the world – will not pay for your sin!
Knowing all the right people in the world – will not pay for your sin!
Having all the money in the world – will not pay for your sin!
Being religious and going to church – will not pay for your sin!
1John 4:10 “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
God sent His Son to pay the price for our sins, and without His Atonement there can be no forgiveness of sin. To those who have rejected Christ, I ask you again: How are you going to pay for your sin?
We have looked at many scriptures from God’s Word that tell us how to be saved, and I want to take a few minutes this week to encourage you to come to Christ. My desire is not to beat you over the head with a 32 pound KJV Bible and make you do something that you really do not want to do. I more than realize that if I could talk you into something, somebody else could come by and talk you out of it. My only desire is for you to come face-to-face, nose-to-nose, with Jesus. No strings attached. No gimmicks. No substitutes. Jesus said, “Come unto Me”, and my prayer for you is that you would come to Jesus. I believe Dr. R.G. Lee in his sermon ‘The Spirit and the Bride Say Come!’ said it best when he preached:
“Christianity is the only religion in the world that says come. Go search through all the religions that this world does know and has ever known, ancient and modern, and see if you can find the word come. You can't find it any more than you can find a hundred ton chunk of ice in a teacup.
"Herein in the preeminence of Jesus Christ. Herein our God is shown to be above all gods. They have no come, these other religions. They have no deliverance from sin and its consequences.
"With some of you right now, the question is, 'What am I going to do with a Christ who says, "'come"'? And if you do the wrong thing with him and keep on doing the wrong thing with him someday he'll not say come to you. He'll say, 'Depart you! Go from me! Into everlasting hell prepared for the devil and his angels.'
"He says, 'Whosoever will let him come!' The invitation includes all; To those who are far away in the jungles and mountains of sin.
To those who are subjected to fearful temptations.
To those who are cursed by burdens.
To those who have been betrayed by friends.
To those who have despised the good.
To those who have long delayed their soul's salvation.
Come ye to the fountain! Come drink and be satisfied."
